Tuesday, January 21, 2025 Netanyahu launched the so-called “Operation Iron Wall” in Jenin. The Palestinian Authority has now joined the operation. Their joint goal is to root out authentic resistance to the zionist occupation in the form of the heroic Jenin Brigades, who are fighting for self-determination against an occupying force, as is the right of all Palestinians under international law. As of writing, the IOF has killed at least 10 Palestinians, who have ascended to martyrdom, and wounded more than 35. Similar to the tactics used in the Gaza genocide, the IOF is operating drones, airstrikes, Apache helicopters, as well as ground troops in Jenin. We know that the genocide of Palestinians began long before 2023 and does not end with this weekend’s historic ceasefire. The US-Israeli war machine has not stopped turning, it has simply picked itself up and shifted targets. This makes clear what we knew all along, the zionist state of Israel’s goal is not national security or securing the return of the hostages. While many eyes are on Gaza to see if “Israel” honor’s this ceasefire, we know its ultimate goal is seizing all Palestinian land, including the West Bank, and displacing all Palestinians through violence. The armed resistance groups in the West Bank are heroic and successful political fighters most notably from the cities of Nablus, Tulkarm and Jenin. This means Jenin has long been seen as a spring of resistance, and thus a target of the zionist occupation. Just in the last two months, the Palestinian Authority also launched an assault in Jenin, killing at least 16 Palestinians, most of whom were civilians, and arresting dozens of others. As the IOF began its assault on Tuesday, the PA withdrew forces explicitly stating it was to avoid direct fire with the “Israeli” military. Both of these assaults are attempts to weaken Palestinian pride and confidence in their resistance, however, Palestinians remain determined to live as people free from oppression and colonialism and will continue to fight against the forces of imperialism. Operation Iron Wall is an extension of the ongoing Nakba that has plagued Palestine for more than 77 years. JPSN stands with the heroic brigades in their fight against colonialism, against genocide, and for the right of self-determination. This most recent campaign shows we here in the belly of the beast must continue to pressure our local government and port authority (JAXPORT) to end their complicity in the genocide of Palestinians. We will stand united in our communities to protect against Trump’s reactionary policies, whether they be aimed at Palestine or here at home. We know that now is not the time to simmer but to let the steam from our rage move us towards collective action.
