This Thursday, June 12th, the zionist entity officially launched their attack on Iran after months of constant threats. Despite Tehran’s insistence they did not wish to build atomic weapons, the zionist entity initiated “preemptive strikes” the first victims of which included women and children. The zionist entity has increasingly been threatening Iran with a greater escalation, especially as Iran continues their support for Palestinian liberation and resistance groups like Hezbollah and Ansar Allah. As we have seen with Yemen, Syria, and Lebanon, the zionist entity is quick to instigate war with any and all neighbors who step out of line with Western interests, and this is no different.
We know that this attack is not just about Iran, but follows a pattern of destruction the zionist entity has carried out in pursuit of a “Greater Israel”. Netanyahu, as well as the United States, has long since supported the idea of a “Greater Israel” to take over parts of Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan, and of course, the continued occupation of Palestine. This desire to expand and escalate a larger regional war only serves to deepen its role as a fortress for US imperialism.
None of this would be possible without the continued US support for their genocidal and colonial project. Every UN veto by the US to protect the occupation politically emboldens them, and every transfer of arms to the zionist entity enables them, including the shipments departing from right here in Jacksonville. Jacksonville Palestine Solidarity Network upholds the sovereignty of all nations, including Iran. The attack on Iran is yet another targeted attempt to destabilize the sovereignty of Iran and the Arab world at a critical time of need in Gaza, and all subsequent developments must be understood on the basis that the zionist entity is actively instigating war. We reject all attempts to shift the narrative toward speculation around nuclear programs as justification for initiating war with Iran, just as the US did in Iraq 22 years ago. Furthermore, we reject all attempts to shift the narrative in the region away from the continued and daily-escalating genocide in Palestine. It is no coincidence this attack on the Iranian people comes as global eyes have been on aid convoys to break the 102 days of man-made starvation in Gaza. We reject the Zionist attempt at a wider war of Imperialism across the Middle East and stand in fierce solidarity with the people of Iran who are pulling their loved ones from the rubble in the aftermath of the entity’s cowardly attack.
